Your Christmas Wish

Christmas comes but once a year,
but that’s too much if you’re not sincere.
How can you expect Santa to come to you
if you’ve pulled out the fireplace, blocked the flue?

The kindest wishes, sent by card,
don’t amount to much if you’ve been barred!
Take comfort from a thoughtless joke,
just burn the card, enjoy the smoke!

What present will you choose,
for an ardent gambler who can only lose?
A person that you hardly know -
your lack of knowledge could easily show!

After Christmas, there may be much to mend,
hastily chosen presents that may offend!
Perhaps the greatest gifts of all
are love, devotion, always at their call!
