Death

Death is a spiritual amputation,
of one who loved you so.
Finding them gone for ever,
leaves just nowhere else to go.

Death cuts you off completely,
from the person you loved so dear.
Assuming God takes care of them,
just what is it that you fear?

Death leaves you standing,
on the outer edge of time.
Why should you feel so guilty
if there has not been a crime?

Death severs happy memories,
making history of them all.
Would loved one like to leave you
looking ever backwards to recall?

Death makes you less secure,
in your tenure of this patch of earth.
Why do you deserve to feel less safe
than at any time since birth?

Death simply leaves no future,
for you to look forward to,
so how can you go onwards
if you cannot see things through?

Death means nothing will be the same,
no matter how hard you try.
Outings and pleasures, once shared,
will only cause you to cry.

Death provides a sombre shadow,
accompanying everything you do.
Dulls fiercely any highlights,
colours life in dullest hue.

Death makes all possessions valueless,
save to remind you once more,
of the joy of going shopping together,
and bringing them back to your door.

Death casts doubt upon your lifespan.
Just how long have you got?
Does it matter with your sad loss,
the answer is probably not?

Death leaves so many questions -
answers you would dearly love to find.
Problems since the start of time,
that have troubled all mankind.

Death remains the gateway,
to the greatest adventure of all.
Who knows just what you will find,
when laid beneath the pall?
