Christmas Tree Festival 2012Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th December saw the Christmas Tree Festival brightening up St Michael's. The festival was officially opened by the Shefford Gala Princesses, and drew some good crowds, thanks to the Farmer's Market. Visitors were asked to vote for the tree they liked the best - one little boy was heard to say "it's impossible to choose - they're ALL winners!" - a view shared by many visitors. Several people also commented that the standard of entries was even higher this year. So, if your business, group or organisation entered a tree and did not get a "place", your efforts were still very much appreciated, thank you all! The votes worked out as follows:
This year we were fortunate to have a beautiful trophy donated and engraved by Shefford Building Supplies Entry was free, but donations were requested, and there was a raffle for some wonderful prizes, donated by local businesses. We also served refreshments, including hot, home made soup, as well as cakes, teas and coffees. We are delighted to be able to announce that the event raised a total of £610.00, which will be split 50/50 with St Johns Hospice. The Christmas Tree Festival finished with a very atmospheric service during which the main lights were turned off to display the trees at their absolute twinkling best. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to the success of this event! Click Here To View Slideshow... Date: 17th december 2012 Source: Webteam |
