29th February 2012 - Day of Blessing

"Are you promoting your church?"

"No, we just want to bless our community."

"Can I give you a donation?"

"Not today - just go and do something to bless someone else."

"OK, I will."

This was the kind of conversation that tookplace in the walkway outside St Michael's on the morning of 29th February, the Day of Blessing (an initiative from crossingplaces). We'd set up a table with tea, coffee, squash and biscuits, and these were given out freely to all comers - together with a friendly smile and a listening ear which were appreciated just as much.

Just being there to bless people - it's what we try to do every day with our open church building; but still there are those who find it difficult to cross the threshold, so it's good sometimes to go outside and allow the blessing of God to flow wider and further.

We'll definitely repeat this venture!
