Jubilant Jubilee Service at St MichaelsSunday 3rd June marked the Jubilee celebration and Trinity Sunday at St Michaels. The church was resplendent in red, white, and blue as congregation members outdid each other in dressing in Union Jack colours, and were greeted with cheers as they showed off their outfits to each other. There was opportunity for on-the-spot creation of our very own floatilla of boats, put on display around the red-white-and-blue altar. The celebration service had its solemnity, too as Jenny Dann, our Lay Reader, interwove the jubilee celebrations with the message of the Trinity, the awe-inspiring power of God. We read the specially-written Jubilee prayer (twice!), sang the National Anthem, and prayed for the world, the nation, and our community. The service ended with coffee and a richly decorated cake, donated by a local business, in gratitude for our prayers for them and all businesses on Rogation Sunday. A good celebration and a strengthening time with the church family. Yay! Date: 5th June 2012 Source: Judith Robinson |
