Special Service for Chilean Miners

Along with many millions of Christians throughout the world, we have been praying continuously for the successful rescue of the 33 miners trapped in the San Jose Mine in Chile.

The latest news is that a rescue shaft has now broken through, and that, by God's Grace the miners should be brought to the surface in the next few days.

PRAISE GOD!

On Sunday 24th October (9.45am), we will be having a special service, entitled 'Going Underground'.

Do come and join us as we celebrate the rescue of the 33 by the grace of our listening God, and explore some ways that we can help these men and their families rebuild their lives.

We will be singing a special song from the Cornish tin miners who have first-hand experience of the traumas of being trapped underground, and then rescued.

The Chilean miners and their families will need a great deal of support over the coming months and years - the experience of the Cornish tin miners who have survived similar situations is that the 33 will not be able to work as miners again.

Their situation is made even worse by the fact that the mining company that operates the San Jose mine will not be able to give them any meaningful financial support...
