Peter Reeve's Marathon Success

Peter with his two proud daughtersPeter Reeve has successfully completed his first ever marathon run on his birthday (14th November) in a little over 4 hours. To date he has raised £728.70 for his chosen charity, the Amos Trust (a particularly impressive result given that he set himself a target of £500!).

Garth Hewitt, the founder of Amos Trust has performed twice at St Michael's (see "culture"), so Peter's choice of charity continues the strong links that we have with this charity - one that focuses on supporting the "forgotten people" of the world.

Peter has used the Virgin Money Giving website to collect the sponsorship - it's not too late to add your donation - click here to donate.

Peter writes:

"It has been an ambition of mine to run a marathon for a long time now and I have entered the London Marathon ballot for a number of years, without success.

The French Riviera Marathon follows the coast from Nice to Cannes and this year it is being run on my birthday! An opportunity too good to miss.

I would be very grateful if you could help me to support The Amos Trust, by sponsoring me to complete the race. Amos Trust is an international human rights organisation that works with local partners to support some of the world's forgotten communities.

If you are able to support them here are some examples of how your donation could help:

£19 provides text books and support materials to train a Dalit person as a teacher. Dalit are the lowest caste in the Indian caste system and don't receive any education beyond primary school, if at all. by training Dalit people as teachers, more school places can be made available for Dalit Children.

£40 pays a week's wages for a nurse at the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza.

£25 pays for a full tank of diesel for a mobile health clinic for street children in Durban, South Africa.

Thank you very much for your support, it is very much appreciated.

Peter."
