Roger's London Marathon SuccessYou may recall that we published a news item back in February about Roger Anderson, a local runner who was running the Flora London Marathon in aid of our local Home Farm Trust. Well, he did it, and thanks to your generosity, we were able to add £57 to Roger's target of £2,000. Roger has sent us a letter, thanking us for our help in raising his target figure, and giving some insight into his remarkable achievement: I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for both your support and your contribution towards a worthwhile charity. Without your support, charities like Home Farm Trust would not be able to survive and continue to do the vast amount of work that they do; dedicating their time to supporting individuals with Learning Disabilities. HFT strives to provide inclusive services, which are individually tailored to each person's ability and potential. We aim for a positive, valued lifestyle, which reflects the key principles of the Valuing People Policy, supplemented by our own core values of care, opportunity, respect, and empowerment. We promote equal opportunities and social inclusion for our service users My aim was to raise £2,000.00, and with your generous contribution I have been able to raise my target amount. I'm sure you will want to know how I got on. Well I can tell you that although at times, like the people we are supporting with this money, I had my struggles. I also had the privilege to meet many inspiring people who were running for their chosen causes, and although the weather wasn't exactly kind, I finally crossed the finish line in a respectable time of 5 hours 14 minutes 22 seconds. Once again thank you for your kind help in supporting people with Learning Disabilities - long may it continue. Kindest Regards, WELL DONE ROGER! Date: 3rd May 2008 Source: Roger Anderson / Webteam |
