Second Sunday at Six – Chocolat

  • "How are you sure you’re doing God’s will?"
  • "Is being disturbed in your pleasant life a good thing or a bad thing? How do you know?"
  • "We don’t really know how one of our chance comments can affect someone else, do we?"
  • "So, how do YOU face temptation?"
  • "Isn’t it interesting that the more control you put on people, the stronger the desire to seek freedom!"

These are only some of the comments wafting in and out among the participants of the Second Sunday at Six’s viewing of the film Chocolat on the Sunday before Lent (10th February 2013).

A chocolaty spread...The conversations took place halfway through the film, over a table creaking with desserts, most of them featuring guess-what?.

And, there were two stalwarts who actually showed the rest of us greedy gluttons how to abstain. No one seemed to be asking them how they did it…we didn’t want to know!

The evening ended with prayers led by Vicar Roni, but the conversations are likely to continue well into Lent. If anyone would like to borrow the DVD or a list of thought-provoking questions on the film, just contact the webmaster.

Many thanks to all who came, who contributed toothsome desserts, and to Frank Bond, who offered the original suggestion.
